Individually Directed Retreats Offered at St. Anthony's
A private individually directed retreat is an unstructured time of quiet for prayer, reading, walking and enjoying the beauty of nature with the opportunity of meeting with a spiritual director once a day to help sort out what God might be doing or saying in the mix of all that is going on in our lives.
There is nothing like a couple of days of quiet to allow the muddy waters of our lives to settle and clear. Why not treat yourself this year to a personal retreat? The cost for this retreat is $100 per night which includes a private room with bath, all meals plus a session with a spiritual director. You can schedule your retreat for as many days and at any time that is convenient for you.
During the week it is quieter and allmost always there is availability. Some weekends are filled but usually there are a few rooms available. Call Sister Danielle Witt, SSND at (559) 561-4595 to make a reservation or for more information.

“Wisdom from ‘The Shack’”
November 20-22, 2009
This year, instead of offering a separate women’s retreat and men’s retreat at St. Anthony’s,
Fr. John Griesbach and Sister Danielle Witt, SSND will be offering two weekends of the same retreat. Both retreats will be open to women, men and married couples. The theme for our retreat this year is based on the book The Shack by William Paul Young. Although it is not necessary to read the book before the retreat it would be helpful since we will be touching on the many themes this book evokes e.g. the challenge of forgiveness, dealing with loss, images of God, trauma and its impact on faith, God’s love and the reality of evil, etc. etc.
The Shack is about a man named Mac who suffers a terrible family tragedy. Angry and weighed down by grief he is invited (“lured”) to the shack where the tragedy occurred for an encounter with God. The book is an exciting and easy read and opens up a lot of possibilities for dialogue.
Are you ready for an intimate encounter with the Lord? Listen deeply because just like Mac, who received a personal letter of invitation, you, by reading this introduction are now also being invited to an encounter with the Lord at St. Anthony Retreat!
Please complete the registration form below and send to St. Anthony Retreat P.O. Box 249 Three Rivers, CA 93271 or for more information please call (559) 561-4595.

“Letting the Lord Draw Near”
An Individually Directed Silent Retreat
with Jack Izzo, S.J
January 3-9, 2010
Once a year at St. Anthony Retreat we offer a special six day individually directed silent retreat according to the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises. Some who have made this retreat in the past have shared that it was a life-changing experience. And some keep coming back for more! What makes this retreat so special is the intense listening in silence to how God wishes to communicate with each person. And, for sure, God’s grace always comes in deep and surprising ways! One does not need to have any special preparation for this retreat—only an open heart and a deep desire to experience God’s presence and grace.
This year the retreat begins on Sunday evening, Jan. 3rd and ends after lunch on Saturday, Jan. 9th. Because each person is accompanied on the retreat by a trained spiritual director we need to know well in advance the number of people making this retreat so that we can invite a sufficient number of spiritual directors.
Why not treat yourself to the best Christmas present ever—an intimate encounter with the Lord! And who knows what gift God has been waiting and longing to give you! If you register before Nov. 1st the total cost is $650. The cost includes a private bedroom and bath, all meals, a personal spiritual director, and all that is necessary for a restful and peaceful personal vacation with the Lord. Please call (559) 561-4595 to register. Why not call soon!
